My introduction to Beaux Villages Eymet began with a phone call from Nikki Cantegreil. A great first impression as Nikki took the time to call me and chat through exactly what we were looking for. This was our return to France having lived here before. Nikki then sent me some properties on line to see if she had understood the brief. I was so impressed, my previous experience of agents in France had been to try and sell us a property we did not want. She was spot on. We had one day with Nikki viewing 5 properties and we found our dream home that day. Unbelievable and this was just the beginning. Nikki is brilliant at staying in touch and answering queries, giving assistance and literally holding our hand. Lisa Hewitt-Coleman was involved in our purchase. These two women are so professional with a real sense of humanity and follow through. 3 months later we were in our new home and have been living the dream ever since. With great pleasure, we were very well guided by Roland and Joyce Boelhouwer during our successful search for a home. Both of them listened carefully to our wishes, even when they weren’t always clearly expressed. We also want to mention Catherine Vanackere, who assisted us with the paperwork. We bought our dream house in the Charente with the help of Beaux Villages. Although the sellers hired them, we always felt that BV did their utmost to guide us through the process. We are moving from the Netherlands to France and had to get used to how things work in France. BV gave us peace of mind; they answered all our questions in a friendly and timely manner. Making appointments to visit the house was easy and could be arranged at short notice. We even got help with matters that were not directly related to the house (getting energy, water and phone connections for instance). We were very impressed about the friendliness and accuracy of their support. A big thank you to Helen Stothard, who was our main contact and who worked relentlessly for us. She's a friend for life! Also to Matthew Barry, who was a big help on the background and even assisted us during the signing of the contract at the notary. When we started our search for a house, we expected it to be a much more difficult process, but thanks to them it was a pleasurable experience and we highly recommend them!

Special thanks to Jacqui Reddin-Williams, our estate agent and the Beaux Villages team for their help with the recent purchase transaction of our “dream home” in France. As Americans moving to France, the process of purchasing a home was very different than the process in the US. Primarily, the traditional and now more recent roles of a “buyer’s agent” and a “seller’s agent” in the US do not apply in France. Consequently, we were confused about the roles of agents and how to communicate during the offer period and subsequent development of the Compromis and the ultimate Acte de Vente. When we were introduced to Jacqui we initially considered her to be the seller’s agent and took a plutonic position toward her despite her assurance that she also worked on our behalf. She proved herself during the negotiation with the sellers even with our having hired someone to search and evaluate properties for us. During the negotiation she absolutely performed as an impartial arbiter representing our position with clarity and skill. She worked with us hand-in-hand every step of the way from drafting the Compromis de Vente with the French notaire to the final Acte de Vente. Far beyond the sale she provided a wealth of information about the local community, the French culture, highlights of the area, vendors, and service providers. Jacqui is clearly an experienced professional being accessible and responsive. She has also extended herself as a friend beyond the purchase transaction. We are grateful to her steady hand on the wheel and helping to make our dream come true.

Henrietta was the agent on a property we recently bought in the Dordogne. She was excellent. We asked a lot of questions, many of which I wouldn't dream of asking a UK agent, including how much it would cost to do work renovating the house. She went out and found a builder who visited the property and provided a budget for the work. She contacted the local electricity provider for an estimate of work on moving an electricity pole. She was responsive, positive and helpful throughout. It's hard to think of how she could have done more. Thank you Henrietta!
