Aubeterre celebrates all things Dutch!

Today Aubeterre celebrates ‘Koningsdag’, the national holiday of the Netherlands. We’re doing our bit to take part by decorating the BVI shop!

From 1pm to 9pm there will be village celebrations in Place Trarieux including market stalls, traditional games and live music. It is also traditional to wear the colour orange in reference to the Dutch royal family which is the ‘House of Orange’.

This part of France has a really strong Dutch community and this is reflected in our Aubeterre team. Both Marjet and Marianne hail from the Netherlands, and there are Dutch speaking team members across the business.

Vandaag wordt er in Aubeterre-Sur-Dronne de kleurrijke Koningsdag gevierd, de nationale feestdag van Nederland. Wij dragen ons steentje bij door ons BVI-kantoor te versieren!

Van 13.00 tot 21.00 uur is er een dorpsfeest op Place Trarieux met verschillende marktkraampjes, traditionele spelletjes en live muziek. Het is ook traditie om oranje kleding te dragen als verwijzing naar de nationale kleur van Nederland alsook naar de Nederlandse koninklijke familie die tot het 'Huis van Oranje' behoren.

In dit deel van Frankrijk is een zeer sterke Nederlandse gemeenschap en dit wordt ook weerspiegeld in de samenstelling van ons lokaal team in Aubeterre. Zowel Marjet als Marianne zijn beiden afkomstig uit Nederland, zij zijn echter niet de enige Nederlandstaligen in onze grote BVI-familie.
