The Beaux Villages team in Ruffec hosted their annual Octobre Rose walk

What is Octobre Rose?

October is Breast Cancer Awareness month across the world, increasing awareness of the disease and raising funds for research. In France it’s known as “Octobre Rose”. In Paris the Eiffel tower is illuminated pink, whilst towns across France decorate their townhalls and streets with pink umbrellas, ribbons, and some even add pink dye to their fountains. Many communities come together to support local events and fundraisers.

Beaux Villages marks Octobre Rose with sponsored walk

The Beaux Villages team in Ruffec once again hosted their annual Octobre Rose walk organised by local team member, Rachida Low. The 2024 event saw a change to the route, with the group setting off and returning to Rejallent in Ruffec. The walkers covered 8 kilometres, winding through Les Touches de Barro. Afterwards everyone enjoyed drinks and cake. This year there were 22 participants and dogs. The group raised 280€ for la Ligue contre le Cancer, which Beaux Villages has matched with an equal donation. Well done Rachida and all the participants!

How to donate

If you aren’t able to take part in a local fundraising event, you can also donate directly to one of France’s organisations taking up the fight against cancer:
