Tournon prospers after being named a ‘Plus Beaux Villages’
A Beaux Villages shop in one of the most beautiful villages in France!
Before the official ‘Plus Beaux Villages’ label was granted to Tournon last year, the BVI team had already recognised this was one of the most beautiful places in France, and that is why we chose to locate our shop in this stunning village.
Our Tournon shop is nestled in the heart of the Bastide, in a beautiful half-timbered building, of which we are very proud. We’re also proud to be part of such a thriving community, that with the official label is rightfully getting more of the attention it deserves.
One year after obtaining the label, the Mayor Didier Balsac announced that the number of tourists is increasing. Everyone in the village is getting involved, including the inhabitants of the lower part of the Bastide, as well as the inhabitants of the hilltop medieval centre of the village.
New businesses and organisations have been set up to keep the village in bloom all year round. It’s not for nothing that Tournon d'Agenais organises the flower festival which is renowned throughout the region on the 1st of May each year!
The property market has also seen a notable increase in demand. The proof is in the pudding, we are struggling to keep up with the demand for properties! It’s not hard to see the attractions of the village: the stunning hilltop site, the beautiful surrounding countryside, the magnificent views from many houses, old and new local shops, and the newly installed fibre broadband - everything is in place for new residents.
The ‘Plus Beaux Villages’ label is highly sought-after and only a few villages are newly added each year. It’s awarded to villages with less than 2,000 inhabitants, and as Tournon d'Agenais has less than 800, we can still welcome new inhabitants!
