A new life in France!

I looked back at my first Journal entry of last year, it was titled ‘New Beginnings…’
This year has taken that notion one step further and I am embarking on the start of my new life in France.
What was formerly known as ‘The Music Room’ has been dismantled and returned back to its original four wall state. It is now known as ‘The Packing Room’. Bags and boxes are starting to form neat little piles around the edges, sectioned off into separate room contents. I was one blue tac blob away from sticking a sign above each pile with the room name on. But I managed to rein in my OCD before it ran away with me.
Going through my belongings and boxing up my life has made this grande aventure suddenly become real. Instead of focusing all my energy on what I am excited about in moving forward, I took a moment to consider what I might miss looking back.

1. Stanley’s groomer
I’m almost ashamed to admit that out of everything in the UK, this was the first thing that came to mind. Finding the right groomer for my poodle, Stanley, was a traumatic experience for a mollycoddling fur-baby mummy such as myself. Julie not only does an absolutely splendid job of his hair-do, but she is very patient and kind with him, her salon is just one dog at a time and impeccably clean. Stanley loves visiting her, which means I’m happy leaving him there. France love their little pooches so fingers crossed it won’t be too hard to find his new coiffeuse!

2. My armchair
The stairs in my new French home are too narrow for such a wide reclining chair, so it won’t be going to France. It’s not just me who will sad to say goodbye to this faithful piece of furniture though, every night me and the boys snuggle up comfy cosy like three bugs in a rug. I'm sure they will miss it too.

3. Dunelm

I bloomin’ love Dunelm!

4. Cup of Tea

When I went for a weekend last July I loved everything about South West France, apart from their cuppas. They are indeed a coffee culture and a cup of tea is not their forte. I think little ole biscuit dunking moi might have to adapt my palette somewhat and learn to love a new taste. Either that or import a stash of PG Tips!

5. Mes Amies

And finally, of course I will miss my friends! But it’s so easy to keep in touch with a myriad of communications these days, that I know I'll talk regularly with my nearest and dearest and look forward to fabulous holidays when they come to visit me for some fun in the sun.

Bubble wrap ahoy!

 Next month: It's moving time
