Vin Chaud - A Delicious Twist on Mulled Wine

This mulled wine has a distinctly French twist on the mulled wine most of used are used to.

Definitely give this a try if you're planning some festive drinks. It's even better if the spices are left for a couple of days before re-warming and serving up.

For the very best flavor, use a young, fruity, red wine. The more aged wines, especially those matured in oak will have heavy tannins and can be bitter when warmed.

  • 4 peppercorns
  • 2 orange peels
  • 1 lemon peel
  • 2 cardamom pods
  • 1 cinnammon stick
  • 5 ml crème de cassis
  • 70g brown sugar
  • 2 cloves
  • 1 litre of quality red wine

3 Simple steps to your festive treat:

  1. Heat the wine with the crème de cassis and the brown sugar
  2. Add the spices and remove from the heat - infuse for at least 2 hours under cover
  3. Warm and serve!
