On the 15th and 16th August Monflanquin hosted its annual medieval festival, where the village’s Bastide is transformed and the local population try to replicate how village life might have been back in 1256 when the Bastide was built. Most importantly, it is a time of celebration for friends and family to reunite around the 15th August, a French national holiday.

The 2-day event started with the opening parade of all the entertainers involved including several troupes of acrobats, knights, musicians, dancers and “others”.

Our Beaux Villages Monflanquin team supported the event and some even went that extra “kilometre” to blend in (Katie and family pictured above).

If you are looking to buy or sell in Monflanquin our local team is on hand to help. Either pop into the agency during the week or give us a call.

You can book tours to find out more about the history of Monflanquin and the French Bastides at the local tourist office.
