I’m moving to the Pyrénées-Orientales and going back to school

After 13 wonderful years in the Dordogne, I am off on a new adventure for Beaux Villages Immobilier to the Pyrénées-Orientales area of Southern France.

The Pyrénées-Orientales is a French department in the south of the country, right at the corner where France meets Spain on the Mediterranean. Why there? Well, I can hear the sandy beaches, the rocky coast, the big city of Perpignan and the mountains calling.

It’s not completely unknown to me, as I met my French husband there and my daughter was born there 16 years ago, but of course she remembers very little of it. I can’t wait to show her the variety of life down there.

First thing to be done before the move was to get her enrolled in a local Lycée or High School. We chose one right on the coast (Lycée Rosa Luxemburg). It sits right alongside the town’s harbour. And guess what – it even has its own mini harbour, as learning to sail is part of the sports curriculum. Add to that the opportunity to learn to ski in the winter months and, well, I think I am going to send her out to work and I will go back to school!

The boxes are being filled up every night at home and I am trying to get around to saying ‘au revoir’ to all my friends and colleagues. Not to forget my wonderful clients who have or are buying and selling with me from our Lalinde branch.

As soon as I am settled I will keep you up to date on how things are going.

Come and share the adventure? I’ll find you the perfect home in this very special corner of France?
