I Love My Town: Lauzerte

I took an early morning drive to the local bastide village of Lauzerte, to my local supermarket. The church was rising from the mist where the sun was trying to get through the clouds. The town is mysteriously perched on the hill and presents a perfect holiday photo opportunity. Suddenly from around the corner a tractor approached. At the wheel, an old french man with his wife hanging on the step for dear life. Really? I was so surprised to see it I had to turn round and go back just to take a second look. Yes, there they were, both (apparently) in their 80s and looking as if they travel this way every day of the year.

But that's just France and that's why I love it here....

Add to that the autumnal colours, rich in the rising sun, vines sparkling beautifully in their reds and yellows, light blue sky and clear sunshine and I almost have to pinch myself - it's not a holiday, it's my life now in France

Even after 10 years you can still be amazed by the beauty and generosity of France, just keeps giving. Lovely long warm autumns, blue sky most of the time, lazy lunches with good wine on the terrace with friends - all so easy to get used to. Look at all the lovely properties we have in Lauzerte
