Charming Angoulême is the undisputed star of Wes Anderson’s latest film
According to the Times, those looking for a piece of the nostalgic and romantic Paris of popular imagination should in fact head 450km south to the lovely city of Angoulême.
With its ‘nooks and crannies, corridors, passages, staircases, layers and ramparts’ the ambience is reminiscent of Paris’ picturesque Montmartre and Belleville districts in days gone by - and just the typically french look Wes Anderson was after for his latest film ‘The French Dispatch’!
Although the city itself has a small expat population, the rolling countryside of the Charente with its sunflower fields and vineyards has long been a popular property destination for the British.
There is a wealth of character property in the Charente, including this very impressive 15th century chateau featured in the Times article, currently marketed by Beaux Villages Immobilier in partnership with Home Hunts and Savills.
