Recognise these SW France locations in Ridley Scott’s latest Hollywood film?

Set in medieval France, Ridley Scott’s latest Hollywood epic, The Last Duel is based on a true story. When a knight, Jean de Carrouges (played by Matt Damon), discovers his wife has been raped by his squire Jacques Le Gris, he sets out to seek revenge. This climaxes in the last duel, which back in 13th century France was officially recognised as trial by combat. Also starring in the film are Ben Affleck and Jodie Comer.

Excitingly, Ridley Scott chose South West France as the location for much of the filming. This won’t be surprising to those who live in or visit the region, with its stunning medieval villages and dramatic scenery.

Just some of the locations that were used include:

Abbaye de Fontfroide, Narbonne, Aude
Monpazier, Dordogne
Château de Beynac, Beynac-et-Cazenac, Dordogne
