A Day in the Life of a Trainer

We left home in the Lot et Garonne, Nouvelle Aquitaine and passed through the neighbouring Department of Tarn et Garonne and down into the Tarn, both part of the new region of Occitanie (previously Midi-Pyrenees).

A wonderful easy drive through, amongst other delights, the Aveyron gorges (which are in the Tarn; The Tarn gorges are in …… the Aveyron)

And so we conducted a training module at the BVI shop in the foothills of the Beaux Village of Cordes-sur-Ciel, refreshing the local team on all matters legal with regard to estate agency. A full house and rapt attention! All the better to serve our clients.

And then, after a night in a gite, it was time to move on. We decided not to take the quicker motorway option to our next destination, but to go ‘cross-country’ and explore the neighbouring area. We climbed through the extraordinary landscape of the Aveyron, to over 1000 metres, passing bits of snow and significant storm damage, before winding downhill to the valley floor and the town of Millau in the lee of the magnificent bridge of the same name.

Time for a drink. It was, after all, national Hot Chocolate Day (somewhere in the world!).

We are traditionalists at heart.

As we passed across the Val de l’Herault, skirting the Cevennes national park, in the early darkness of a fabulous January evening, we marvelled at the super blue blood moon illuminating our way to our left. And on, through the Herault and down into the ancient city of Pezenas where we found a cosy tapas bar with Catalan overtones in a side street. Not such a bad way to end the day!

Another 50 kilometres and we were at our overnight stop and venue for the next day. Narbonne, Aude, neighbour to the Mediterranean Sea.

The two day course we were now running covered finding the best properties for sale and bringing them to the market, and skills in proactively matching buyers with sellers.

Our attendees have come from Beziers in the Hérault, Perpignan in the Pyrenees-Orientales, and the borders of the Ariege.

Heading home for the weekend, we passed the amazing walled city of Carcassonne (Aude), and onwards towards Toulouse, thereby adding Haute-Garonne to our Departmental Tour.

Irony of irony - having avoided the quick option of motorway on the way down, and looking forward to it on the way home, the local farmers had banded together and blocked all motorway exits between us and home! Suddenly a 4 hour journey - plenty - was cross-country and longer. And it was Friday evening!!!!

But it’s not a huge punishment - driving on good roads through beautiful countryside! And if we hadn’t diverted through Gaillac, we’d never have known about the Croque le Dragon. Go on, click, you know you want to… We have properties for sale in each of these Departments.
