France to introduce new DPE survey for homes with the lowest energy rating

Buying and Selling

The new survey will be required from the 1st of April 2023, before the sale of houses that fall into the ‘F’ and ‘G’ energy rating categories. The government’s aim is to give buyers a clearer idea of the costs involved to get the energy rating up before they commit to the purchase, such as new insulation.

Although the price for the surveys is expected to be between 500 & 1000€, there will be means-tested government aid up to 500€ for the sale of primary residences.

We will be contacting our vendors with properties in these energy categories to give them more information and guidance. You can also find more information on the government website here
